BAND: Montel Fish

Role: Playback Engineer

Montell Fish’s live show blends atmospheric production with raw, emotional performance. Behind the scenes, that sound depends on a tight technical setup of playback systems, synced instrumentation, and a stage rig that works perfectly every night.

I joined the touring team to manage the playback system and support the band’s backline throughout the run of shows.

The Story

Modern live shows often sit somewhere between band performance and electronic production. For Montell Fish, playback provided the foundation that allowed the live elements to sit naturally inside the sound of the records.

My role was to run and maintain the playback rig, ensure reliable sync across the band’s setup, and support the backline so the show could move smoothly from venue to venue. Touring means different stages, different technical environments, and constant problem-solving, the job is making sure the music stays consistent regardless of the conditions.

The Result

The playback system delivered a stable backbone for the live production across the tour.

With the technical side running smoothly each night, the focus stayed where it should be: on the performance, the energy in the room, and the connection with the audience.
